Notes
This is one of the simplest DIY recipes I know of, but it can be a bit challenging to find all the ingredients at first. I did end up finding most at Canadian Tire but you may have a more local option. Luckily, once you source the ingredients they will literally last for years (seriously!) so don't be dissuaded. Just be sure to store the ingredient packages in a safe, dry place away from kids and pets to ensure nothing goes to waste.
Finding a laundry bar with all natural ingredients was a personal challenge for me since all the major brands (i.e Fels-naptha, etc.) have long lists of complicated and artificial ingredients. I personally like to use Aurora Linda laundry bar soap, as it has only the most necessary and natural ingredients.
Many DIY recipes have high initial cost, but not this recipe. All the ingredients come in at under $20 (tax included). The price difference between this and store-bought detergent are massive, and I find this DIY recipe to be superior in cleaning power. A great recipe for anyone new to DIY.
